or inside the glass?
Where the moisture sits makes a difference. Before calling, check whether it wipes away from an accessible surface. Do not lean out or take risks to inspect the outside.
| What you notice | What it may mean |
|---|---|
| Mist between the panes | A failed sealed unit may need replacing. |
| Moisture on the inside surface | Indoor humidity and cold glass can cause surface condensation. |
| Moisture on the outside surface | Weather and surface temperature can cause external condensation. |
The right unit for your window.
Tell us which windows are affected and how many panes need attention. The team will need to establish the size and specification, assess the frame and discuss the replacement before quoting.
Keep a suitable frame
Replacing only the failed unit can avoid unnecessary disruption where the frame remains in good condition. An assessment confirms whether this is the right approach.
Frame or hardware problems? See window repairs ↗Does misted double glazing need a whole new frame?
Often it does not. If the surrounding frame is suitable, a failed sealed glass unit can be replaced separately. The frame condition and glazing system need checking first.
Is condensation always a failed sealed unit?
No. Moisture you can wipe off the room-side or outside surface is different from moisture trapped between the panes. Persistent misting inside the sealed cavity can indicate a failed unit.
Will a replacement unit match my existing glass?
The replacement needs to suit the size, thickness and specification of the original glazing and the requirements of its location. Discuss any patterned, obscure or specialist glass when requesting a quote.
