A door that catches
Movement or worn hardware can affect how a door meets the frame. Alignment and component condition need checking together.
A handle that fights back
Stiffness may come from alignment or the mechanism itself. Avoid forcing it and describe when the resistance occurs.
A lock that won’t engage
A key or handle problem does not automatically mean the whole door needs replacing. Ask for an assessment of the fault.

your door.
The options depend on the door’s condition and compatible parts. Chelmer Window Repairs offers door and lock repair work as well as window and door replacement where appropriate.
Call with your postcode, the type of door and a description of the fault for a free, no-obligation quotation.
Why is my door difficult to lock?
The door may be out of alignment, or there may be a fault in the handle, cylinder or locking mechanism. The team needs to check how the door closes and how the lock operates.
Should I keep forcing a stiff handle?
No. Forcing it may make the damage worse. Describe what happens when you operate the handle and arrange for the fault to be checked.
Do you provide an emergency call-out service?
Emergency or round-the-clock attendance is not advertised here. Call 01245 909191 to ask about current availability and explain if the door cannot be secured.
Not sure which repair you need?
Match the symptom to the right service in our window and door repair guide, or call the team for advice.
